lets WALES awhile

Helloooo!Sorry for this superr delayed entry that I didn't even get to post something for a month!πŸ˜… I have been very busy during my birthday celebration as it was a blast both in personal and fan girl life πŸ₯° I'll be posting an entry about it this November as a peace offering, I promise! ;)

(22SEP20) This is absolutely, the most spontaneous trip I've ever had. Never in my existence have I booked something 2 days prior to date! Though, this is one of our friend's ideas so fortunately, the expenses of going to Wales at that time wasn't expensive (it is cheaper compared to Cornwall). Hence, we had a 3-day staycation in Cardiff--the Southern highlight and capital of Wales.
Among the 4 Great Britain countries, Wales could be the least mainstream of them all. If you're thinking of a go-to place to relax and zone out from modern day life, then this is your area-to-be πŸ˜‰
*NB: Safety COVID precautions were strictly observed during these tours.

Travelling from London to Cardiff roughly takes 3hours via the National Express. One thing that fascinates me in going here was the sudden shift of language once reached its border. I'm not sure if this is  the same feeling when travelling from Luzon to Visayas/Mindanao in the Philippines in which there's a dialect change πŸ˜…The Welsh has its own native speech which is derived from the Celtic language. Although, they speak English too but they can talk so fast with a mix of their twang! In spite that they hold the longest name in the world, most of their words are spelled with minimal vowels which adds up the curiosity of how they pronounce it.

We stayed at one of the Holiday Inn branches there which is near the airport. The amenities were affordable and fancy yet I wouldn’t recommend the Express branch location-wise; It will take a 30minute train going to the city centre. Likewise, their train routes are confusing, it changes on the spot. We relied on Google Maps for navigational purposes, but if times are not accurate, better ask the train personnel. And of course, the last resort is always a cab ride which we found hard to book even through Uber 🀷🏻‍♀️ Make sure to have some cash since some drivers don't do contactless payments. Now tell me, are you picturing that this place seems quite old-fashioned? 'Cause I will second to that! Haha.
This railway goes to Central London too!

In fact, they seem to be very minimalist and traditional here. The Wales' capital isn't really big that you can explore for one whole day! Every landmark can be visited on foot once you're at the city centre.

Basically, a typical high street shall be filled with shops but in Cardiff, the pubs are everywhere! If London has Wetherspoons, Cardiff has pub-restos called "Brains". Though, there's nothing really special in it--same old English cuisine and atmosphere.

Besides that, I don't know if this is because of the COVID scare or a normal weekday but their city square is not crowded too! I cannot believe that there's an urban area in the UK that looks quiet and what, disciplined?!

Visit the Cardiff Market for authentic souvenirs and treats. The Welsh cakes are a MUST-TRY!! πŸ–€

These mini-pancakes are like their local scones coming in different flavors; The original is the one with dried fruits in it ^^

Situated in the heart of the capital is their proud heritage, Cardiff Castle. Built from over 2000 years ago, the place has preserved its medieval vibe with staff dressed as knightsmen and shops selling armor souvenirs. It was gorgeous and historical similar to other castles in Great Britain.

It's a Welsh thing to see more of this mythical creature in the area. The red dragon, Dreic, is one of their symbolic war emblems.

Alongside the castle is a huge nature-friendly lot called Bute Park. It's a nice place for recreation, dog-walk therapies, plant shopping and a scenic view for the upcoming autumn foliage. ;)

You'll also see the Animal Wall as you enter the park. Check if you can name all the animals sculpted by famed Welsh artists!

Another main attraction in the metropolis is Cardiff Bay, a 30-minute walk from the city centre.

The docks were closed that time so we didn't get to walk near it. This vibrant waterfront has cafes and restaurants around it hence, this is a perfect place to stroll in during the golden hour. πŸŒ…

Don't miss out the pumpkin spiced latte in this fall season!

And apart from that are more establishments from parliament buildings to stadiums where they watch the British rugby and national art centres.

I only get to see this Millennium Centre on the outside yet this is my fav piece of attraction here in Cardiff. I like how it's built and I wonder if there's any meaning of what's written on it.

So there goes my short vacay to Southern UK!It's a #bucketlistcheck for me to finally toured all 4 nations of the UK πŸ–€ And if I were to ask about what's best for me between the 4, find out on my UK entries πŸ˜‰ Many thanks to my friends for pushing through with this trip as we all needed a little break away from our hectic noble job in England.

Sadly, this might also be my last trip for the year since COVID remains prevalent ;( May everyone stay safe and continue to pray for better days!!
