Japan Tales: TOKYO! (part 3)

Sunday, January 27, 2019

My first travel happened too early and so does my comeback to Japan! This is for the reason that we want to experience the winter season. Thus, here we are in Tokyo! Several have been asking me if either Tokyo or Osaka is better--yet I CAN'T choose between the two! They are both lovely to visit with all the good food, shopping and attractions and I highly suggest to tour them separately as one or two days is not enough. Anyhow, Japan's capital is such a wide metropolis in which each town has its own unique theme. On this post, I will highlight briefly some of the cities that I went plus a few tips on how to travel savvy in this wonderful city. :)

Thank you to Delta Airlines for this speedy trip though I wouldn't say that it's one of the best plane rides that I took. I didn't like the food and as we travelled swiftly, it has given me damn headaches

Moving on,we stayed in Shinjuku again, specifically at Keio Plaza Hotel.Their amenities are brilliant from having Japanese-Western breakfast buffets, airport transfers and room services. Likewise, everything is very accessible in Shinjuku as it is the commercial business district of Tokyo. You can read more about this here.

Similarly to Osaka, the trains are life. I purchased a 48-hr unlimited train card from KLOOK. This one has unli access to all Tokyo subways and metro stations except JR lines. Based on my experience, it got a bit of a hassle to transfer from one train to another but it sure does saves a bunch of cash! (FYI: taxi fares begin at ¥410 or P205). It only takes a lot of walking and underground stairs plus it's a must to plan ahead of where to go.The train stops can be really confusing but just follow the number and color scheme of the train line and you'll be fine! ;)

One of my fav towns in Japan,Shibuya!❤️ Nearby its station lies the popular Hachiko statue.Cheers to this loyal dog!

Shibuya and Harajuku are truly the best districts to shop. I already went here 3yrs ago and I still didn't get to finish exploring it 'til now! I recommend to spare a whole day here (they are one stop away from each other through the Fukotoshin line) as it is bound to various good finds and shopping stores. In addition to that, sale is everywhere!Especially on Takeshita Street in Harajuku, there is something they call as "TIME SALE" wherein prices get low as 70% off in random hours. So if you asked me what I shopped, well I bought some winter outfits for my next travel..Hehe!

Another city that we went was Akihabara aka "Tokyo's Electric Town". My anime heart was so happy as I stepped there.❤️ The place is filled with arcades and hobby shops along with other electronic gadgets.

Mind you, these are just some of the anime figurines that can be purchased in this particular anime hobby shop that we went. In fact, it has 7 floors full of it!They also sell mangas (sadly,no english translations ;(),cosplay accessories, albums and other toys. And like I always suggest, it's better to look around first before buying though I think every store here offers a different set of collectibles.

I know this is popular in many toy exhibits nowadays so if you're fond of these dolls, then this is the haven to buy them!

There are a lot of SEGA buildings around the area and they are bound to different arcade games or “pachinko”.Unfortunately,we weren’t allowed to take a video while playing inside but truth be told,we spent more than ¥2000 there! These crane/UFO catcher games can be so addicting (and challenging) as it made me felt like I'm in a casino.Hahah. Kudos to those Japanese kids who get to win there frequently! As iiin some of them can get the prize for only 2 tries! But since I kinda swore not to leave the place without winning something,I kept trying until...

ta-daaaah!Hahaha xD This was taken in Taito Station at Shinjuku on our 4th day.I might have given up with the bigger plushies but at least I won a Rilakkuma for 5 plays ❤️ Nevertheless, this is one of the good ways of spending your coins as it cannot be exchanged when you get back home.Play play lang ;p

Lastly, here's one of the hyped delicasies in Tokyo aside from the rare flavors of KitKat,Tokyo Banana. I bought these at the airport but they have another version of this downtown at Don Quijote. These are yummy banana cakes with custard fillings; yet do you ever wonder why it has a bow on top of it?! Lol too cutesy!

Next entry will be about my snowy day at Mt Fuji!
'til then!
