Japan Tales: To Sakuras and Namba foodtripping.

Thursday, May 10, 2018

I'm back in Japan and it came in early as 1)I'm travelling with my family and 2) We finally made it to cherry blossom season! :D God knows how much I have fought at work to get my VL's approved this month (especially the fact that unexpectedly, I got transferred at the adult ER..but lets not talk about that for now.Haha). Our departure flight had a stop-over in Taiwan which got me more excited even if we just stayed there for an hour (and we were only inside the airport!). Yet I still find it thrilling and definitely got my hopes up that this will be my next trip soon! *fingers crossed* Though I have other Asian countries in mind to visit for the next quarter..hmm. ;)

Touchdown Taiwan!Their airport is filled with Sanrio stuff and the ambiance made me felt like I was in Hong Kong ;p So yeah,I really wanna see the outside world of this!

And here I am,back in Namba: Kansai's kitchen town!
Anyway, so I'm back in Osaka and this time we stayed at Red Roof Plus which is located within the side streets of Namba.Of course, I went to Dotonburi again which I haven't finish touring on my previous post about Osaka.I love it that it is just a block away from our hotel so most of our dinner nights were spent there ❤️ Likewise, I get to try the rest of the food here aside from the infamous takoyaki; So here's a continuation of my Dotonburi foodtrip:

Kobe beef! And it's best to pair it up with a glass of plum liqueur.

Melon Pan with vanilla ice cream for dessert(Y400)❤️ The stall always has a very long line but it is definitely worth it!And it also comes in different flavors.

Another fine must-try dessert would be taiyaki!I tried the sweet potato flavor this time as I have tasted the red bean before. Both tasted really good^^

Tempura, fresh grilled clams and the charcoal-grilled crab which I haven't got a chance to taste on my last visit. But here it is and it was really delicious!
Besides foodtripping, I recommend buying the souvenirs here as the duty free stalls sell a lot of good items at an affordable price. You can even buy a pack of Kit Kat for just Y184/P80!

But this one's an exception.Haha.I bought this special flavored Kit Kat in Donki and so as the rest of my haul below. The Matsunaga biscuits are a must-try btw. ;)

Also, don't forget to pass by Glico shop for more confectionery items!

All intersections of this place lead to different shopping areas so I guess it might take at least 2 days to visit all of it. Though one of the main shops that we entered was Shinsaibashi-Suji which is filled with women fashion. But for the sneakerheads, try going to Orange Street. The shoes may be very expensive there but they are considered to be a collector's item.

Moving on,we were able to witness the cherry blossoms last April 13 at Japan Mint. But how did we get there?RIDE THE TRAIN.

/
Here's the train route if you'll be coming from Namba.Take the pink line(S16) going to Tanimachi-9-chome (S18) and from there, switch trains to the purple line(T25) going to Temmabashi (T22). The venue will be a 10minute walk from the train station."

Like I said before, the train is life in the Kansai region. Even I still get confused in navigating of riding the JR train or subways so it is a must to get a train map and if needed, seek help from the train guard (they are very accommodating anyway). Another thing that I could suggest is to buy the Osaka Amazing Pass so you could get unlimited access to trains for either 1 or 2 days. :) I got this very convenient during my solo travel before.
These sakuras come in different shades of pinkish-white bloom❤️ They are so pretty but you are definitely NOT allowed to pick them up.Haha. It blooms here until April 17 as the weather gets warmer(with some showers in the afternoon).
At that time it was very sunny but the weather is still bearable at around 18 degrees celsius.

Besides that, there are various food stalls as you walk across this park. One of the highlights would be the limited edition cherry blossom delicasies (the Asahi sakura flavor is available as well!).And the others are as follow..
I noticed that they often put eggs on their meal either sunny side up or omelet...but among the ones above, the ramen burger is a must-try!I was so stunned when I watched them make it.It tasted like the ordinary ramen minus the soup yet it is savory.
Their yakisoba sure is authentic and the best! And here are a few desserts...
Check out these skewered treats made up of real strawberry and grapes! I find it hard eating them as the sweet coating was very sticky but nevertheless, the fruit is delish!

There are also souvenir stalls here and games such as catching kois using little paper-tailored nets.Gash, anime na anime talaga!Hahaha 😂 Well I'm very glad that I get to experience the food park/Bancheto-style here in Osaka.;D

I'll be talking about Universal Studios Japan on my next post!
'til then!
