My Quick Staycation to Northern Ireland

Friday, July 5, 2019

Here’s my first time to travel outside London..as a working resident! Well okay, lets confirm it: For the past 3 months, I’ve been staying in the UK for work purposes ;p I’ve been lurking this all along because I was juggling between duty and study alongside touring (of course! I’ve been going new places every week^^). In fact,my main reason why I got to go to Northern Ireland is for our 2nd part of the licensure exam. With God’s grace, I aced it and amidst the pressure,I was still able to explore the town even for just a very short stay.Truth be told, N.Ireland is like The Philippines’ Baguio or Tagaytay. It’s certainly one of the most serene places I’ve ever been. Why?How come?

Flight-wise. We flew via Easyjet and this is a first for me to fly with literally a “one bag policy”. You can only have ONE piece of bag in the aircraft which already includes your handbag.Though, there’s still an option to have a hold/check-in luggage (with an additional fee). Nevertheless, I would recommend this for short trips and such :)—plus in my case, I just commuted by train towards the airport so I really need to pack lightly!

My view from the plane.

Belfast vs Derry I never thought that it’ll be greeny as this; It’s full of farmlands and animals! The view from Belfast going to Derry made me sleepy with all the cattles,windmills,horses...whatta real countryside. While Londonderry itself is so quiet as well.I cannot live here.lol like it will just trigger my homesickness :)) However I gotta say, their attractions are simply picturesque eventhough there’s not much to say but their historical wars.

One of the main ones would be Peace Bridge and Derry Walls.

The great wall of...N.Ireland!

And on top of it was a bunch of canon slings which are cool! The buildings around it were classy and I like it.

Hotel. We stayed at Da Vinci Hotel which is 3-4 star rated and it’s an average staycation facility. This 2-bedroom costs £70/night (Php4550/night).The hotel also has a fine-dining restaurant and bar beside it where we ended up eating at during those 2 days. There’s really not much of a food place around the town and if ever there was, they would close as early as 5pm! crazy.Haha. But anyway, here’s one of my dinner orders:

They have dinner sets during the evening costing about £15 and it’s worth a try!

Too bad I wasn’t able to try their famous Guiness but when in Ireland,ya better drink!

*Note: It’s better to pay there via card since if you pay them with cash, they might give you a change in Irish currency.

So will I consider to go back?Like I said, I can’t and I’m sorry 🤐 The towns are very quiet for me that I’m not quite used to it. But if you a want a place that’s peaceful and simple, then this is the destination to be! Though, what I adore the most in NI would be the community—the Irish are one of the nicest people I’ve ever met! They are very accommodating in such a way that they’ll sort out with whatever queries you have for them.Hence, that’s all I can say about ‘em ;)
